For this assignment, we had to create a functional resume that would be used to apply for a job of our choice. With this resume we had to include factual information about ourselves and our work experience as well as a hypothetical job opportunity.
This project addressed 21st century business literacy skills. This is because we had to understand what a possible employer would want and how to articulate ourselves in a way that was beneficial to the company we wanted to apply for.
I am proud of how my resume turned out. With the help of my professor I was able to create a great resume that I can use in the future. I also am happy that I got full credit on this assignment after all the time I put in.
By doing this assignment I was able to explore the ways in which my job actually benefits me and how the skills I am learning translate into different jobs in my area. This exercise was really interesting to see how we should word our skills so that they are more versatile.
This project was difficult for me due to the fact that my limited work experience made it hard for me to choose skills that would benefit another employer. I was also unsure how to word them on my resume so that they seemed more interesting to a reader.
If I were to improve this resume I would add more details to my internship. I have not completed my internship so when I put it on my resume in advance I couldn’t add as much information as I’d like.
This relates to what I have learned because we are figuring out ways to present ourselves to our various audiences everyday.
In the future I will be more comfortable presenting myself and the skills I have learned to a future employer. I will also be able to elaborate on the information I used in my resume to communicate to the reader why I am a good candidate.
