For this assignment, we had to spend the semester studying the cultural ethnography we chose and write a research paper based on our findings. This was used to identify how people in different cultures live in their society.
This project addressed 21st century global awareness skills because we had to break out of the biases we place on other people and research different groups of people across the world that are different from us and how they live their lives.
I am proud of how this ethnography turned out because I learned so much about the !Kung people, and was able to explore the world in a different way than normal.
By doing this assignment I was able to understand the cultural biases ingrained in our brains and how many people in different cultures can do things differently than the western world.
This project was difficult for me because I was not sure what to focus on in my research paper. We had to pick out different pieces of information from the culture and analyze how that affects them.
If I were to improve this research paper, I would conduct research from multiple sources including my original assigned ethnography so that I could grasp more about the !Kung people.
This relates to what I have learned because we have had to conduct research before and write an essay that fits the requirements, we also have to be accepting of the cultures around us and understand that everybody is different.
In the future I will be able to use this assignment as a way to reflect on how, as a society, we are very different from everyone else, and that we need to be more accepting of others.
